Students at Cedar Elementary and Carihi Secondary School came together under Vancouver Island University students' leadership to build a community garden which the children and families can use together. Seymour Pacific Developments was excited about the opportunity to get involved with this project and provided the building materials to make it happen.
The community garden offers children and their families a place to grow, care for, and harvest fresh fruits and vegetables to eat. It provides the children with a fantastic learning opportunity and is a great way to have some fun while getting your hands dirty!
Mackenzie Kennedy, one of the student organizers, was happy to announce that the program was a complete success, despite the rain. The Carihi woodworking students made the cuts and constructed the garden beds, while the Carihi and Cedar school students will plant the vegetables and care for them in the spring and summer.
Seymour Pacific Developments is thankful for the opportunity to sponsor this educational, fun project, and hopes that the Laichwiltach Family Life Society enjoys the garden for years to come.
