Three years ago, Bryce Cockburn began a Spring hockey program for players aged 10 to 13 in Campbell River, BC through Next Level Training, his very own player development business. Bryce, a Hockey Canada certified advanced Skills Coach with a devotion to the sport, knew that many kids had to travel to Nanaimo or Victoria for their Spring teams, making it difficult for families to participate. Broadstreet has been a proud sponsor of the program since 2017, providing the Broadstreet Bulldogs with jerseys, each year.
In speaking with Bryce, you could tell he was excited to get things rolling once again. Almost 95% of the kids come back, so he has a chance to see them progress, year after year. Where most Spring teams focus on playing games and tournaments, Next Level Training focuses on developing the players through practicing specific techniques and exercises. By practicing 20-25 times and playing only 4 or 5 games, the players have more time to hone in on their skills. Next Level Training also encourages the kids to play in secondary sports, which is why his program only runs from March 14th to May 14th.
"Thank you to Broadstreet Properties for all that you do. You are the main sponsor for these kids and it really goes a long way in lowering the costs and making the programs accessible. Sports like this are such an important part of the kids' healthy development and we're so thankful to have your support!" says Bryce Cockburn.
