Volunteer groups involved in planting events create and enhance the vegetation cover throughout parks, along roadways, and in established tree stands. Root For Trees has an annual planting target of 45,000 native trees, shrubs and wildflowers to preserve and expand Edmonton's urban forest. Together with their partnerships, Root For Trees continues to work towards doubling the size of Edmonton's total urban forest canopy by 10 to 20% within 10 years.
Broadstreet staff had the opportunity to join Roots for Trees and they were amazed with how many trees they could plant in a short period of time with so many people involved.
