To follow the cliché, "you can never judge a book by its cover," Talisa Clarke, Regional Manager, found that there are no rules when it comes to who uses the Edmonton Food Bank. There are people with all kinds of backgrounds who struggle to provide for their families. You just never know what's going on in people's lives. Some of the items given out were for small children and babies, which was the hardest part, recalls Talisa.
As part of their volunteering efforts, they organized donations into boxes of food for outside organizations like the Salvation Army. In three hours, they were able to finish 25 boxes, but there were 1000's of other items waiting to be distributed.
Volunteers are always needed at the food bank, and there are many roles to fill. They often need drivers for drop offs, people to organize items and hand them out. It was a heartwarming and humbling experience for the team and they were grateful for the opportunity to give back.
Way to go team and thank you so much for giving back to the community!
